Mackinaw City, MI – The Mackinaw Area Historical Society (MAHS) has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Organization of the Year as part of the Community Excellence Awards. This honor recognizes MAHS’s unwavering dedication to preserving and sharing the rich history of the Mackinaw area, as well as its significant contributions to fostering a sense of community pride and cultural awareness.
The award celebrates the society’s ongoing efforts to educate and engage residents and visitors alike through historical programming, exhibitions, and community events. Over the past year, MAHS has expanded its outreach initiatives, including launching innovative workshops, curating new exhibits at the Heritage Village, and organizing events that have brought Mackinaw’s history to life.
